What are we about?

Citizens for Selective Service Education and Truth in Recruiting is a  non-denominational, non-partisan, voluntary group located in upstate New York, who believe that young people must not be viewed as potential military assets.  We are self-organized for the purpose of reaching out to youth and the wider community in order to provide information, education, and discussion as related to Selective Service law and military recruitment.

 Goals:

Outreach to youth, parents, schools, faith groups, media, community and Government

  • Invite young people to a process of conscious examination of, and growth of core values and beliefs affecting a decision of whether or not to participate in military service.
  • Support young people in their beliefs.
  •  Listen.
  •  Assist in the development and maintenance of Conscientious Objector (CO) files.
  • Provide witness and advice as young persons negotiate with recruiters.
  •  Assist in identification and pursuit of alternatives to military service.
  • Educate and inform
  • Provide factual and accurate full-disclosure information about military enlistment and draft/CO issues.
  • Develop informative materials (posters, pamphlets, brochures, etc.) suitable for a variety of situations such as placement in schools, places of worship and dissemination at public events.
  • Develop presentations directed at student groups, school boards/administrators, faith groups and youth groups.
